B.C. Hydro says the conveyor belt is expected to come into service during the summer of 2019 and will be used to transport materials to the dam site until 2023.More information on project details can be found on Site C’s website. FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. – B.C. Hydro is announcing that starting this week, construction activities will begin on the installation of a five-kilometre-long conveyor belt system that will be used to transport materials from the 85 Avenue Industrial Lands to the Site Cconstruction site.According to Hydro, the conveyor belt system will run adjacent to Shaman Industrial Way, cross under Old Fort Road, and 240 Road through culverts.The work will consist of excavation and pile driving, to install the brackets and supports for the conveyor, and will take approximately three months. In addition, road work associated with the culvert installations will take approximately two months to complete.
