Odds are you’ve launched, discovered, or moved a Trackable – such as a Travel Bug® or Geocoin – along to the next geocache. Your chances of encountering Trackables are on the rise. They come in many shapes and sizes but can be identified by a unique tracking code (a series of letter and numbers) that is trackable on Geocaching.com.Trackables are now appearing on t-shirts, car decals, and even gear for your dog. But Trackables hail from a humble beginning. The first Travel Bug dog tag was launched in 2001. A rubber “devil duck” was attached as its hitchhiker.Since then Trackables have tallied tens of millions of miles, including a Trackable that has logged more than 1.5 million miles; “Steve’s geo-backpack” continues to ride along with a geocacher who is a pilot. Another Travel Bug crossed through North Korea, one has been to outer space, and others have traveled from cache to cache completely around the world. When you encounter a Trackable remember to log it on Geocaching.com and have the courtesy to use the proper Trackable etiquette.Great American Backyard Campout(US Only)Geocaching joins forces with an American rite of passage – the backyard campout. • Making the Chrome Prettier: Google Launches Artist Themes

first_imgGoogle just launched a large number of new themes for Chrome. These ‘artist themes‘ were designed by well-known artists, architects, and designers, including Jeff Koons, Karim Rashid, Oscar de la Renta, DJ Tiesto, Kate Spade, Donna Karan, Kid Robot, Casey Todd Oldham, Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Mariah Carey.  In total, the new gallery features over 90 themes, ranging from simple patterns and photographs to elaborate artworks that were custom-made for Chrome. Why Tech Companies Need Simpler Terms of Servic… Top Reasons to Go With Managed WordPress Hosting Related Posts frederic lardinois A Web Developer’s New Best Friend is the AI Wai… 8 Best WordPress Hosting Solutions on the Market When Google first launched its themes for Chrome in August, a lot of users were rather underwhelmed by the available selection and quality of the themes. Thanks to the Artist Themes, Chrome now offers a far larger selection of themes and switching themes is as easy as clicking ‘Apply theme’ on the gallery page. With Personas, Firefox obviously offers a very similar feature and currently also offers a far wider range of themes than Chrome. Unlike Firefox, however, Google doesn’t offer a central repository for themes that were created by users.Nice Themes, But What About Usability? The problem with most of these new themes, though, is that while the images are quite nice, they usually just get in the way of usability. When you can barely read the text in your bookmark’s bar, for example, it doesn’t matter if the theme was designed by Oscar de la Renta, Jeff Koons, or a random Google engineer. • NDA will get three-fourth majority in Maharashtra assembly polls, says Amit Shah

first_imgVisiting Mumbai, a day after announcement of Assembly polls in Maharashtra, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Sunday chose not to meet Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray maintaining secrecy over whether or not both parties will contest the election as an alliance.Addressing a public rally in Goregaon, Mr. Shah announced that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis would continue at the post even after the polls. The BJP president went on to say that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would get three-fourth majority in the Assembly of 288 seats. While his reference to the NDA has sent mix signals, Mr. Shah did not mention Shiv Sena in his speech. This is being viewed as a snub to the Sena which is projecting Aaditya Thackeray, son of party chief Uddhav Thackeray, as its nominee for the CM’s post.“The Fadnavis government worked alongside Narendra Modi government at the Centre. The Modi government got a second term and I am clear voters have made up their minds to give Fadnavis another term,” Mr. Shah said. However, throughout the day Mr. Shah did not hold any political meeting either with the BJP leaders or with Mr. Thackeray, as speculated. It was widely believed that the meeting between both the leaders would iron out any wrinkles in their partnership and an alliance between two parties would be finalised. The Sena chief has already said that he is hopeful of an alliance with the BJP while Mr. Fadnavis too has said that both parties will contest as part of a coalition. Mr. Thackeray has also said that the seat-sharing formula for the Assembly polls was decided by himself, Mr. Fadnavis and Mr. Shah before Lok Sabha polls. Sena’s Rajya Sabha MP Anil Desai on Friday said that the Sena would accept the number of seats given to it by the BJP.Intense speculation is continuing on the number of seats each part would contest, with the latest version being BJP would contest 162 seats with Sena contesting on 126. The smaller parties would be accommodated from BJP’s quota.Senior Sena leader Divakar Raote had said that party expects 50:50 seat sharing formula and failing to do so would result in the breaking of the alliance. The BJP however has retorted by saying those not part of the seat-sharing talks should not get involved.last_img read more

  • EC completely biased against Oppn Rahul

first_imgNew Delhi: In a scathing criticism of the Election Commission (EC), Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said when it comes to matters related to the opposition, the poll watchdog is “completely biased”.His remarks come in the wake of clean chits given by the EC to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on various complaints of Model Code of Conduct violations. Asked about questions being raised over the EC’s impartiality, Gandhi, at a press conference here, said, “When it comes to issues of the BJP, the EC is absolutely on the straight line, when it comes to the opposition’s issues, it is completely biased.” Also Read – 2019 most peaceful festive season for J&K: Jitendra SinghThe working style of Modi, the ruling BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is to put pressure on institutions, he alleged. “This is evident everywhere — SC, EC, Planning Commission, RBI. That is their approach. We do not expect that the EC will not be affected by that pressure,” Gandhi said. However, he asserted that the EC has to commit to its responsibility and carry it out. “All this institutional capture that is taking place and all the negative effects of it will have consequences in the future. We are not going to allow Indian institutions to be disturbed, controlled, crushed and anybody who colludes, anybody who falls to this pressure, is committing a crime,” the Congress chief said. Also Read – Personal life needs to be respected: Cong on reports of Rahul’s visit abroadThe EC concluded on Friday that Modi did not violate the model code or its advisory on the armed forces in his campaign speech in Varanasi. The poll panel also found nothing wrong in the prime minister’s comments made in Maharashtra’s Nanded, where he reportedly dubbed the Congress as a “sinking Titanic”. With this, the EC has decided on five complaints against Modi and gave him a clean chit in all the matters. The poll watchdog has also given a clean chit to Shah over his speeches at Maharashtra’s Nagpur and West Bengal’s Nadia. Citing his speech at Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh on April 23, the commission had, on May 1, issued a show-cause notice to Gandhi highlighting a provision of the Model Code of Conduct that barred “unverified” allegations against political opponents. Earlier, the EC had held that Gandhi had not violated the Model Code of Conduct during another campaign speech in Madhya Pradesh.last_img read more

  • Softball Ohio State bats silenced in 31 loss in Game Two against

Emily Clark follows through on her swing, hitting a double against Wright State on Sep.24. Credit: Gretchen Rudolph | For The LanternNothing seemed to go the way of the Ohio State softball team (20-8, 1-4 Big Ten) in its 3-1 loss to Wisconsin (16-12, 2-1 Big Ten) on Saturday. The Buckeyes were coming off of a thrilling late comeback victory in the first game of this three-game series, but the spark didn’t carry over to Game 2.“I think we were a little bit too passive,” Ohio State head coach Kelly Kovach Schoenly said. “When we play our more aggressive style we’re more successful and I think we need to do that.”Ohio State scored just one run off an RBI single from junior second baseman Emily Clark that scored senior center fielder Taylor White in the bottom of the third inning. Wisconsin freshman pitcher Haley Hestekin held Ohio State to just five hits and zero walks, striking out five Buckeyes.“We let her control what we were going to do,” Clark said. “She had us guessing and I think we just need to be more aggressive.”Junior pitcher Kat Duvall started out on the mound for Ohio State after closing out Wisconsin in the first game where she struck out the side in the seventh inning to clinch the Buckeye win.The first two innings went quietly, but Wisconsin senior shortstop Brooke Wyderski changed that when she homered to left-center in the top of the third. Freshman third baseman Taylor Johnson followed her teammate with a long ball of her one, cranking one over the left field wall to extend the Badgers’ lead to 2-0.An error by the Buckeyes in the top of the seventh allowed Johnson to get home, providing the Badgers with insurance to bring the score to 3-1. read more
